Reading: Looking behind the Scenes at Automattic

Just finished reading “The Year Without Pants: WordPress.com and the Future of Work” by Scott Berkun. In his recently published book he describes his learnings, experience and perception of WordPress.com and Automattic. An interesting read for everybody thinking about the future of work as well as people interested in WordPress and people who have been the driving force behind it.

Scott Berkun, now full time author and speaker, worked for Microsoft from 1995 to 2003 (mostly Internet Explorer 1.0 – 5.0). He was team leader of Team Social at Automattic from 2010 until 2012.

How do teams as well as whole companies manage to function if hardly anyone lives in the same city, sometimes not even on the same continent? Remote companies like Automattic challenge our perception of “work” in todays world.
